The quote in this article "If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work.” was inspiring for me because sometimes I don't feel inspired to take photos when I want to but the quote shows me that I should take some anyway. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/photographer-travel-scenes-quarantine-erin-sullivan/index.html The second article had a photo that really stood out to me and has given me some more ideas when considering what I am going to be taking pictures of. 1) The first photo more than any other on the list was spontaneous and made me think that I needed to take a photo in this time and place. It was actually pretty dark but I used the night mode on my camera to make it brighter.
2) I felt like this would be a good time for a photo because I never see my family sit on the front porch so I took it quickly. 3) For this photo I figured that I would try to capture current events more and went to a grocery store to get some photos. 4) This photo happened when I was walking a path in Maple Grove and really liked the way that the path looked. The decision to make it black and white was hard but ultimately it was too bright to be kept in color. 5) This photo was also at a grocery store and more accurately in the department I work in so I got to go behind the counter and provide a different perspective with this photo. 6) The final photo was one that I found by going far down a path then finding a little waterfall, I tried to really capture the movement in this photo. 1) Fulfill your maximum potential: My take away from this lesson was that I should be trying my hardest to always get the most out of what I can do. Whether this be in what time I take photos or how I plan I should try my hardest. The way I am going to apply this lesson is to try to take photos everyday. Another way I am going to try to apply it is by traveling more to take photos in different places.
2) Shoot what you love: My take away from this lesson is that I should take more photos of things that specifically interest me.This would probably make it easier to take many more photos and increase creativity. I think for me the way I am going to apply this lesson is to take more photos of people interacting and of landscapes. I really enjoy landscape photography and love traveling to find a good photo when I can. 3) Embrace your “beginner's mind”: My take away from this lesson is that sometimes I should not be looking for every tiny detail that can be found in an area but find something that is interesting and unique. I think that sometimes you have to look at the big picture and go through things at a simpler level to find photos. In the future I am going to try to improve my ability to find photos in any situation. 4)Try to get rejected: My take away from this is to try to take photos that people may not like but I enjoy because of the meaning or way it is taken. To try to take photos of something that people may be opposed to. I think that the way I will implement this into my photos is by taking photos with more meaning and depth that are not normal. 5) Take “bad” photos: My main takeaway from this lesson is that I should be taking more photos and not letting myself hold back from attempting to take a photo of something that is not that great because there might be value in it. The way I will implement this into my own picture taking is by taking more photos of things all around me when I go to shoot photos. 6) Shoot in boring places: My take away from this is that I should go to more places to shoot photos that I would not usually think of because they might have interesting things to take photos of. The way that I will implement this into my photo taking is by going to more random places to take photos and taking photos when I randomly go places. 7) Expect to be dissapointed: My take away from this one is that when you go out to take photos you should not be expecting some sort of greatness from that shoot. There are going to be a lot more bad photos that is simply what makes the interesting and good photos good. I feel that I already implement this into my work a lot but I could try to do this more. 8) Photograph your own backyard: My take away from this is to try to take more photos of things that are personal to me and that I like to do. Taking photos of things that I like to do would lead to more creativity and a better story. I will implement this into my next photo project by traveling farther to take photos of meaningful places to me. 9) Don’t have a project: When I go out to take photos in a place I should not be trying to capture one image that has to be the perfect image. I should be just trying to find photo opportunities as I see them. A way that I will implement this into my next photo project is by going to a place that sets me up for successful photos and not necessarily forcing one idea of what is the perfect photo. 10) Make a book: Take many photos over the course of a long time and have a common theme. In other words tell your story or a story through your photos. A way that I can do this with my next project is to continue common themes that I have had throughout my other photos.
